Psalm 139:11-12

If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. (PSALM 139:11-12)

Book Resources

One of the 10 commandments is to not commit adultery. This doesn't only mean sleeping with someone other then your spouse. Pornography and lust are also forms of adultery. Although men more typically struggle with these issues, women can, as well. Any man (or woman) struggling with sexual temptation (in any form) should read "Every Man's Battle" by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker or "Every Woman's Battle"by Shannon Ethridge .

If you believe you or your spouse may have a sexual addiction, I highly recommend reading "False Intimacy" by Dr. Harry Schaumburg. This resource was especially helpful so we could both understand the "what" and the "why" of sexual addiction.

If you are struggling with your husband's sexual betrayal, I recommend "Every Heart Restored" by Fred and Brenda Stoeker.

If you or someone you love are an adult suffering from the affects of childhood sexual abuse, I recommend "The Wounded Heart" by Dr. Dan Allender.

My husband having an accountability partner was really important as we worked to heal our marriage. For more information on what "accountability" looks like, consider reading the book "The Accountable Man: Pursuing Integrity Through Trust and Friendship" by Tom Eisenman.

"Undefiled" a book by Harry Schaumburg (author of "False Intimacy") discusses the issues of sexual sin and our need for sexual redemption. He also talks about biblical manhood and womanhood as it relates to marriage and sexuality. It's a truly biblical perspective on intimacy, sin, repentance, and redemption.
